Cone Beam CT Technology
At Northwood Dental Associates, we offer the most advanced technology available in digital x-ray diagnostics. Our state-of-the-art Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) scanner provides our doctors with 2D and 3D images to better care for your teeth and jaws, as it allows dental anatomy to be seen like never before possible.
The 3D view allows Dr. Rodgers to evaluate the height, width, and depth of your teeth and bone slice by slice. Our doctors can also virtually place implants in your jaws within the Romexis cone beam software, which allows for ideal case planning and visualization. This 3D information allows us to more accurately and definitively predict if you are a good candidate for dental implants or if you will first need a bone graft or sinus lift prior to implant placement. Our CBCT scanner can also reveal cracked teeth, dental abscesses, salivary stones, or TMJ pathology that may have been missed with traditional 2D imaging.
The Planmeca machine we have at our Lexington, SC office provides ideal image resolutions along with low patient dose levels that always comply with the ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) principle; so you can rest easy knowing that, when in our care, you are receiving the best x-ray imaging possible today.
Low-dose exposure guarantee:
“Planmeca ProMax® 3D units offer a unique Planmeca Ultra Low Dose™ imaging protocol, enabling CBCT imaging with an even lower effective patient dose than standard 2D panoramic imaging. This pioneering imaging protocol is based on intelligent 3D algorithms developed by Planmeca and offers a vast amount of detailed anatomical information at a very low patient dose.”
